Geothermics and Petroleum Exploration
S.Te.G.A.
is consultant of several thermal plants, as Terme di Chianciano,
Terme dei Papi and Terme Etrusche di Musignano.
The following picture shows the results of a geothermal exploration
near Civitavecchia (Rome), where we reached a depth of about 800
m by TDEM soundings. This is a cross-section showing the geometry
of geothermal reservoir (carbonate unit), uplifted near thermal
spring of Bagni di Traiano by a direct fault.
Flysch units confines the reservoir as they are less permeable,
so thermal fluids can migrate only through tectonic lines. Another
interesting application of TDEM method deals with Petroleum Exploration,
as it can be useful to remove static shift of MT soundings.
In fact it is possible to detail the stratigraphic features of
the first hundreds of meters, till 600 m by 200 x 200 m loop, or
to convert time values into frequency values by Sternberg equation
and to compare directly TDEM and MT curves.
Recently S.Te.G.A. was involved in petroleum exploration in Faroes
Islands together with GEOINVEST.
